Located in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka, Aihole is popularly known as the cradle of Hindu Rock Architecture. It is one of the most popular holiday destinations in North Karnataka.
The first capital of the Chalukyas, Aihole is located along the banks of the Malaprabha River on the west of Badami. The Chalukyas built over 125 temples in the Aihole region. The temples showcase archetypal Chaluykan style of architecture like curved towers, blind arches, sloping roofs and intricately designed ceilings.

Aihole is well accessible from different parts of the country. It is accessible by rail and the nearest railway station is at Bagalkot. Aihole is well connected by road to Pattadakal, Badami and Bangalore. The roads are well maintained and navigable.
